PIONEER UNLEASHES TWO NEW BATTLE/PERFORMANCE
MIXERS - THE DJM-909 AND DJM-707
LONG BEACH, (August 26, 2003) – Pioneer Corporation announced
the release of two new 2-channel DJ mixers that will complement Pioneer’s
groundbreaking CDJ-1000 and CDJ-800 CD turntables.
The DJM-909 and DJM-707 offer DJs innovative features; precise cross
fader/fade curve control, user-customizable cross fader glide adjustment,
and touch screen control of the built-in effects (DJM-909). Pioneer
continually strives to meet the wide-ranging needs of the frontier
DJ and these mixers do just that by combining innovative technology
with proven Pioneer quality.
High Quality Sound Design and Durability
The DJM-909 and DJM-707 boast the highest quality in sound and design
that exceed today’s battle / performance mixers offering powerful
club sound in a battle mixer. This was accomplished with sensitive
yet solid gripping EQ knobs, durable transform switches, and precise
and accurate cross fader curve control. Most importantly, Pioneer
has developed an original “non-contact” cross fader technology
with unprecedented durability and reliability.
The Cross Fader and Faders
The most important feature on any battle mixer is its cross fader
and fader performance. Pioneer’s DJM-707 and DJM-909 introduce
the most precise and customizable cross fader in the industry to
date. The cross fader is highly durable and has double fade control
allowing each half of the cross fader the ability to be adjusted
independently! All fader curves can also be seen and adjusted with
visual reference on the mixers’ fader curve adjust screen (DJM-909).
If that isn’t enough, the cross fader feel can also be adjusted
to your preference (a breakthrough functionality). Each channel fader
curve can be adjusted from a smooth volume change to a dynamic volume
ON/OFF at the TIP of the channel faders (bottom or top). In turntablist
slang, you will be able to crab-scratch the channel faders from either
the top end or bottom end of the fader.
Fader Start Sync
Both mixers can connect with Pioneer’s CDJ series to employ
the fader start capability. The user can automatically start or stop
playback by the sliding cross-fader or channel-fader.
Mixer Layout
Both the DJM-707 and DJM-909 are similar in layout although the DJM-909
boasts built-in effects and a touch sensitive display. Both mixers
also offer a very clean, open fader area for scratching and beat
juggling. Both mixers have a session line-in with volume control,
cueable master output, mic input, and selectable phono / line switches.
In addition, the DJM-909 has a tempo tap button, cueable effects
switch, and a plug in for foot switch to control effects.
Additional Features of the DJM-909
- TOUCH SCREEN AND BUILT IN EFFECTS
A total of fifty different effects incorporated in the DJM-909 can
be independently
assigned, utilized, & tweaked through the mixers’ user friendly touch
screen control. Additional knobs also exist for further parameter adjustments.
Revolutionary effect presets range from Fader Synths to Transform and from Touch
Phaser to Vocoder. A send/return is also built-in to connect an external effector.
- FADER EFFECT
Fader effect can be assigned to a channel fader or cross fader from the touch
screen so that the faders are capable of controlling and varying the effect’s
parameter simply by moving the cross fader or channel fader.
- BEAT EFFECT
The Beat Effect is capable of synchronizing effects with the BPM for high accuracy
effect timing.
- AUTO BPM COUNTER
The mixer is equipped with an auto BPM counter so users can quickly view the
song tempo.
The DJM-909 and DJM-707 will be available in December at a minimum advertised
price (MAP) of $1,199 and $699 respectively.
